Jack Douglas is a Grammy award winning producer, an accomplished engineer, a musical storyteller, a father, and loving husband. But guess what? He is just getting started! Jack is known for his work with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, Bob Dylan, Cheap Trick, and the New York Dolls, among other rock artists in the 1970s and 1980s; notably he produced three successful albums for Aerosmith and developed a deep friendship and partnership with all members of the band. In recent years he has scored films for directors like Martin Scorsese, Danny Provenzano, and Richard Prendergast (to name a few).
Like anyone else, though, he started humbly as a janitor at the Record Plant in New York. Growing up in the Bronx, Jack would involve himself in strange and petty crimes until ultimately finding the best distraction, music. He played in numerous “kids” bands across the world, was Chuck Berry’s bassist for a time and then took a stroll into politics as Robert Kennedy’s campaign songwriter but eventually he worked his way up to the desk as an engineer and then of course, producer. Jack’s career is the perfect example of what chance encounters met with skilled expertise can bring.
With over 50 years of experience, he’s enjoyed a tremendous career as one of the greatest producers in the world. Now the founder and fearless leader of Confidential Records, Jack brings a magic touch and iconic history to the label.
